Amanda Benbow Lunn:

Hello friends. Thanks for joining me in the NC Deep Dive. I'm your host, Amanda Benbow Lunn, and we are in the thick of the 2026 primary election season. Early voting starts in less than a week on Thursday, February 12th, with election day being Tuesday, March 3rd. When you go to vote, you will be handed a ballot based on your address and your party affiliation. If you are unaffiliated, sometimes also referred here as independent, then you will have your choice of which party's ballot you would like to vote. Please note that you are only able to cast one ballot, and that there are no primary ballots for the libertarian, green, or no-labels parties. Moreover, candidates for the general election in November who do not have a primary challenger will not appear on your primary ballot. They get a pass directly to the general election. Due to time constraints and the plethora of candidates, and my belief that having as much information as possible is of vast importance, this primary election segment will consist of me covering one race at a time and going over each candidate's website and what I can find in a simple Google search in case it's easier for you to take the information in this way. I'll also be reading over the answers they gave if they submitted any responses to our 2026 voters guide questionnaire. If you are short on time, you can check out our NC Deep Dive Voter Guide for the 2026 primary election found pinned to our Facebook page or in this episode's show notes at www.ncdeepdive.com. It will be an easy way to access each candidate's website and research the candidates on your own if that is a better use of your time. Without further ado, friends, let's dive in. In this episode, we are covering the race for the U.S. House of Representatives for District 13 on the Republican primary ballot. There are two candidates, Sid Sharma and Brad Knott. We will start with Sid Sharma. His website says Meet Sid Sharma. Let's lend our own to Washington. Sid is a Christian. Sid was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, and is a lifelong District 13 resident. Sid went to Campbell University and brings 20 years of accounting experience by helping people save their money from the tax man, IRS. We are $36 trillion in debt. We need an accountant like Sid to balance the budget. There is not a single member of Congress who is an accountant that serves on the Budget Committee, Appropriations Committee, and the House and Ways Committee. It's no wonder we are in debt. Sid will donate the salary. A service to your country is to volunteer, and why should anybody be paid to volunteer? We all know the famous motto, ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country. Any money received will be donated to local GOP causes. One thing Sid enjoys about running for office is that every day breeds opportunity and makes you live it to the fullest. And that's the greatest thing about America. If you want it, you can get it. Seems like yesterday Sid was working at his father's accounting firm and is now here running for Congress, meeting the great people of District 13. Help Sid win. Help us fight for secure borders, constitutional rights, and lower taxes. Give today. And there's a link where you can donate, and there's a space where you can keep up to date with his campaign. Sid's Promises to You. Solutions. Public safety. Realistic border security. President Trump is back and has once again secured our border. However, our nation is still in danger of the illegal aliens that came. Sadly, weak leadership has derailed President Trump's agenda to deport illegals and offer proper relief to Americans harmed by illegal immigration. Sid Sharma will finish the job. Sid believes that a nation without secure borders is no nation at all. Because of illegal immigration, every town in America is now a border town. And Sid knows Americans deserve safety, order, and the rule of law, not sanctuary policies and lawless chaos. So how? Deport illegals immediately. Instead of Brad, who wants to keep them in American prisons for years at the expense of the American taxpayer, jailing politicians who harbor illegal aliens in sanctuary cities, jailing businesses that hire illegal aliens, fully fund ICE for years. Amending the FTCA, Federal Tort Claims Act, to allow any citizen who had a crime committed upon them by an illegal alien to be entitled to financial compensation from the federal government. In the case of a democratic administration, states can sue the federal government for allowing illegal aliens to come into the country, allow the federal government to sue sanctuary cities, force Mexico via congressional sanction power to pay us for every illegal alien that came into America. Bottom line, when Sid Sharma is in Congress, America will crack down on illegal immigration like the proud nation we are. Constitutional rights, Second Amendment. Sid is a Second Amendment absolutist, which means no restrictions. The battle for the Second Amendment will be in the courts, not in Congress. Sadly, if a regular citizen were to file a lawsuit, they would be dragged out in court for years. So what's the plan? Sid will file a firearm lawsuit ruling unconstitutional pistol permit requirements, pistol braces, bump stocks, etc. Sid will use his power as a congressman to put pressure, impeachment, on judges to resolve the lawsuit quickly. Sid will never compromise on your God-given right to defend yourself, your family, and your freedom. The Constitution is clear. Shall not be infringed. The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. Sid just wants every American to remain free, armed, and sovereign. Economy and jobs. Less taxes. Government doesn't have a revenue problem. It has a spending problem. In 2025, America collected $5.23 trillion in revenue yet wasted $1.6 trillion. Sid's solution is simple. Less taxes equals less government equals more rights. So what's a plan? Anybody who makes less than $50,000 will pay no taxes. Cut waste and balance the budget. Repeal the federal gas tax. Cut taxes for all other brackets as well as businesses. Simplify the code for families and small businesses. Why? Because they only account for 3% of the nation's revenue. And when you factor in that we wasted 30% of our revenue this year, we still have another 27% to save for those that make more. The American dream isn't fueled by bloated government programs. It's fueled by hard work, innovation, and the sweat and blood of men and women. Sid's an accountant, and in Congress, Sid will fight the return to fiscal sanity to Washington and let North Carolinian families prosper. He links two sources. Source one is the tax revenue analysis of 2025, and source two is the government spending breakdown. The news link has the latest news, which does not have anything on that page. There's a get involved tab. You can show your friends and neighbors that you support Sid by filling out the form. Ways you can give our events, yard signs, and phone calls. The tab Our RINO Opponent Voting Record. Brad Knott is more liberal than Don Davis. Let that sink in. Brad Knott, a Republican, has voted more liberal than Don Davis. If you're wondering how bad it has to be for a Republican to rank below a Democrat, congratulations. You're asking the right question. He has a chart here posted that I found in a govtrack.us for Brad Knott. But basically, it is an analysis of ideologies-leadership chart. So Brad Knott falls pretty close to the middle of where each of the members of the House of Representatives are positioned according to their ideology score. He is the leftmost dot in this chart compared to all the other Republican candidates. He's also lower on the chart in the leadership score compared to the other Republicans. Sid's website also indicates where Democrat Don Davis is, and he is somewhat closer to the middle of all Republicans, and not quite the most right Democrat, though Davis is a little higher than Brad Knott on the leadership scale. Personal enrichment, public salary to private millions. Here's a fair question. How does someone go from an 80,000 government salary to becoming a multimillionaire? No innovation, no business built, just time in office. That's not public service, that's personal enrichment. This is why I say quit electing people who don't live in the district. They only serve themselves. He has a picture here of Brad Knott mentioning that he's a Republican in the House for North Carolina. His net worth is $5.23 million. His trade volume is $49,000. The assistant United States attorneys, there's a chart, and I believe what it is showing is for someone with zero to two years experience, the minimum salary is $63,163. The 25th percentile make just over $74,000. The midpoint is just over $85,000 a year. The $75th percentile is $96,000 just over a year. And the maximum is $107,000 just over that in a year. Spending priorities, foreign first, America last. Brad via Senate, I believe it's Senate Bill 1071, sent money to Ukraine for $800 million. Brad via House Resolution 4016 sent money to Israel, $500 million, $500 million to Taiwan, $357 million to Iraq slash Syria, $350 million to Kuwait, $150 million to Jordan. District 13 is always expected to pay, and we always get nothing. He's lists his sources as Congress.gov, vote 320, HR 4016 text, House Amendment 55, and then includes a graphic of those bills. Brad Knott as a representative, his party for the state, and whether he voted yay or nay for those bills. Inaction. Three bills. That's it. Brad Knott has filed only three bills, not three major reforms, not three wins. Source. That's not representation. That's coasting. The source is Congress.gov. He lists a graphic that has the three bills that he has introduced. And it looks like two of them, according to this, have only been introduced. One was introduced and passed the House, but it did not go further and crossover to the Senate to be passed. Endorsements. Endorsed by Americans for Prosperity. Brad Knott is endorsed by Americans for Prosperity, AFP. AFP is a political organization that President Trump has repeatedly and publicly condemned for undermining the America First Movement. Trump was clear. AFP works against the interest of the American people and in favor of globalist economic agendas. If you're endorsed by the people Trump warned us about, you're not fighting for this district. Source AFP Action endorses Brad Knott and NC Runoff. And then there's a graphic of Donald Trump of a truth social post that he apparently made on January 15th of last year that says as of today, the incoming Trump administration has hired over 1,000 people for the United States government. They are outstanding in every way, and you will see the fruits of their labor over the coming years. We will make America great again, and it will happen very quickly. In order to save time, money, and effort, it would be helpful if you would not send or recommend to us people who worked with or are endorsed by Americans for no prosperity, headed by Charles Koch, Dumb as a Rock John Bolton, Bird Brain Nikki Haley, Mike Pence, disloyal warmongers Dick Cheney, and his psycho daughter Liz, Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, General Question Mark Mark Milley, James Mattis, Mark Jesper, or any of the other people suffering from Trump derangement syndrome, more commonly known as TDS. Thank you for your attention to this matter. North Carolina deserves better than this record. Compare Sid's solutions. And that goes back to the solutions that I read about earlier. There is a contact button where you can contact Sid and reach out by filling out the form and sending an email directly. There is a button where you can make a donation, and that is the totality of his website. The only thing I really found in a Google search was his Ballotpedia, and it says that he's running for election to the U.S. House to represent North Carolina's 13th congressional district. He's on the ballot in the Republican primary on March 3rd. Sid Sharma was born in Raleigh, North Carolina. He earned a high school diploma from Wake Forest High School and a bachelor's degree from Campbell University in 2018. Sharma's career experience includes working as an accountant. He did run for this seat in 2024, but he lost in the Republican primary, getting just 0.7% of the votes. He did fill out a number of the questions on the Ballotpedia survey. Who are you? Tell us about yourself. My name is Sid Sharma. I am an accountant. I was born and raised in North Carolina and lived in District 13 my entire life, no matter how many times the legislature changed the maps. Please list below three key messages of your campaign. What are your main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office? One, less taxes. As an accountant, there is nobody else you should want in office other than me to help. One, to lower personal taxes, two to lower business taxes, three, gas prices, four, deregulate, five, cut cost, six, cut wasteful spending. Strong border deporting illegals. One, I will file a trade war with Mexico on day one. For every illegal alien that comes in, Mexico will have to pay a very high tariff, sanctions, etc. Remember, Mexico allows all this to happen. Two, I will file a bill to have ICE and other branches of the federal government invade sanctuary cities and start kicking out all the illegal aliens that live there, and to enforce mass deportations of illegal aliens. Helping veterans. One, ending homelessness for veterans. I plan to appropriate funds out of the EPA, IRS, Department of Education, and other useless agencies and give those funds to get housing for homeless veterans. 2. Getting rid of the horrible waiting times at the VA. Congress can seize this power from the VA secretary and force it jointly. 3. Getting better GI bills for veterans. 4. Getting veterans' jobs when they transition to society. This will be done by giving tax breaks to companies who have a certain amount of veterans on payroll. 5. Letting veterans see a doctor of their choice and get private insurance if needed. What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Taxes, veterans, fighting corruption. Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow and why? In terms of politics, myself. The reason being is that if you try to follow someone else's path, you will never know your own. Plus, to follow someone else's path doesn't breed originality. You can always admire what others did, but you must always follow your own path. Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would like to recommend to someone who wants to understand about your political philosophy? The U.S. Constitution. What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official? Having courage and to love your country. What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful office holder? I'm an accountant, I save people money on their taxes, and I can do the same in Congress. Speaking bluntly is another quality. What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office? Wisely using the people's tax dollars, saving people's taxes. What legacy would you like to leave? Balancing the budget, ending homelessness for veterans, bringing prayers back to school. What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember, and how old were you at the time? Saddam Hussein being captured. I was too young to remember what was going on, but I remember my parents approving of the matter and me trying to change the TV channel so I could play the legend of Zelda, the wind waker. What was your first job and how long did you have it? Accounting. Had it since I was nine and still there to this day. What's your favorite book and why? The reason being is it's the definition of creativity in human nature. If it's an ongoing story, then Naruto in one piece. The reason being is that both of these comics go in depth of human nature. It also deals with bettering oneself to achieve your dreams despite all odds. If you could be any fictional character, who would you be? Monkey D. Dragon. What is something that has been a struggle in your life? Understanding the democratic ideology. What qualities does the U.S. House of Representatives possess that makes it unique as an institution? Power of the purse and an impeachment. Do you believe that it's beneficial for representatives to have previous experience in government or politics? No. The majority of the founding fathers were not lawyers nor politicians. What do you perceive to be the United States' greatest challenge as a nation over the next decade? Political division. Do you believe that two years is the right term length for representatives? Yes. What are your thoughts on term limits? Term limits are unconstitutional. Check out U.S. term limits versus Thornton, Cook versus Gralch. Democrats in those states tried to add additional qualifications for their representatives in Congress to which the U.S. Supreme Court found unconstitutional. Term limits for a congressman woman don't even make sense because they need the concurrence of a majority to advance and then 60 votes in the Senate. What I'm getting at is they cannot do the job alone. Term limits for a president make sense because he is only one individual who has a final say to either sign a bill or veto it. It is not the politician that one is afraid of, but the gerrymander district. If Nancy Pelosi were to retire, she would get replaced by a mini version of herself. Coming to North Carolina, we had a guy named David Price, and he was in office for 30 plus years. When he retired, he was replaced by someone far worse than him, Valerie Foushee. U.S. House of Representatives get elected every two years, and if you need term limits for that, then you must be a sore loser. Politicians don't just win automatically. Is there a particular representative, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after? No. Both sitting representatives and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you've heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful? How Joe Biden brought this disastrous plague of illegal aliens in rampant debt and inflation upon us. Tell us your favorite joke. KK Komrade Kamala. Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policy making only on economic issues? The Constitution says that all bills for raising revenue must originate in the House. What role would this power play in your priorities if elected? Making sure no tax money is wasted also by making sure people save money on their taxes. How should the U.S. House use its investigative powers to deter corruption? What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign? American Exceptionalism Council. What committees interest you? House Ways and Means Committee, House Budget Committee, House Veteran Affairs Committee, House Subcommittee on Border Security, House Ethics Committee, House Judiciary Committee, House Rules Committee. What are your views on financial transparency and government accountability? Financial transparency is a must because if the people cannot see what we are doing with their tax dollars, how can there be any trust? Government accountability is also a must. Doge cuts are a good start. For the campaign finance summary for 2026, it says that the data from this year may not be complete. He is listing zero dollars that he's received in contributions, and it says not applicable for any expenditures that he's made. And that is what is reported for 2024 as well. And it looks like in 2022 he withdrew from the primary. He had received 5,100 in contributions then, but it also says not applicable for any expenditures. That was basically all I found on a Google search that was of note. He did answer our voter's guide questionnaire for the NC Deep Dive podcast. Question number one, experience in preparation. What experience best prepares you to represent your district and its specific needs? I'm an accountant. Congress runs on tax dollars. Since I save my clients from paying taxes to the IRS, I intend to do the same for all taxpayers. My job is to make Washington smaller. What's crazy is that there's not a single member on the budget, House and Ways and Appropriations Committees that isn't accountant. It's no wonder we are $38 trillion in debt. I intend to fix all of this to restore America to fiscal sanity. Top priority. What is the top issue you would prioritize in your first term and how would it directly impact your constituents? One, anybody making $50,000 or less will pay no taxes and there will be substantial tax reductions for all other tax brackets. Biden's inflation is hurting Americans and they need a cushion. Two, implementing a real deportation strategy such as jailing politicians, especially those who control sanctuary cities, jailing or penalizing corporations that hire illegal aliens, having a comprehensive raid on sanctuary cities, allowing the federal government to sue sanctuary cities, allowing citizens to have financial recompensation paid by the federal government for committed crimes upon them by illegal aliens, allowing states to sue the federal government in case of another border invasion. North Carolina is a border state, and we have sanctuary cities. This will help citizens to no longer foot the bill for all this illegal nonsense. Three, decision making. When district priorities and party priorities don't fully align, how do you decide which comes first? He said, that of my district. Number four, issue awareness. What is one issue where Republicans have not paid enough attention to local or practical impacts? He said cutting taxes more aggressively, not having a better deportation strategy. Number five, red line or non negotiable principle. What principle or policy position would you refuse to compromise on, even under political pressure? He said, I will refuse any foreign aid. I'm an America first candidate, and that never means anything. Foreign. Number six, concrete example. Can you describe a real issue in your district and explain how your approach would improve or change what is currently being done? He said, a real issue in my district is my primary opponent who has injured the district. Brad is now ranked as the most liberal Republican in office, with eight Democrats being ranked more conservative than him, one of those being Don Davis. He links the website for that govtrack.us chart that he had on his website. In addition, Brad's only accomplishment is bringing in $1.1 million for the district while making $5.48 million for himself. He has a link to an X-link and another for a link that's www.quiverquant.com and then he lists and sending $800 million to Ukraine, $500 million to Israel, $500 million to Taiwan, $357 million for Iraq and Syria, and many more countries. Electing me would erase all of this. Number seven, accountability. How should voters hold you accountable if they feel you are not representing their district's interests? He said simple. Get rid of me via primary. I'm doing the same for my primary opponent. The same concept applies to me. Eight, learn more. How can voters learn more about you, your values, and how you approach decision making? He included his website, www.sharmaforcongress.com backslash opponent. Moving on to Brad Knott, the second and last candidate running for the U.S. House of Representatives for District 13, who will appear on the Republican ballot. His website says Brad Knott, conservative for Congress. There's a spot where you can fill in your information to join the team. It says, My wife and I grew up in Raleigh and chose to raise our children with the people who built us family, friends, and church. As a prosecutor, I saw the real life cost here at home when politicians failed to solve problems. That's why I ran for Congress. I'm running for re-election to fight for the families in North Carolina's 13th district to be safe and thriving. Brad fights for the hardworking people here in North Carolina. Immigration. Securing the border. Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi's reckless open border policies unleashed a flood of illegal immigrants into our country, overwhelming our communities, straining our resources, and putting American families at risk. We must secure the border, finish the wall, and enforce the law. Those who break immigration laws must face real consequences as a deterrence, or the flood will never end. An illegal immigrant who commits a felony should be sent to prison for a minimum of five years and then deported. Inflation and wasteful spending. Joe Biden and his far-left allies in Congress wallop the poor and the middle class with devastating inflation. Their torrent of wasteful spending gave us $2 trillion deficits, undercut the value of the dollar, and brought high interest rates. It's time to cut spending and carefully scrutinize every spending bill to make cuts. I support a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution. Education. Supporting school choice. Public schools are failing our nation, neglecting the fundamentals they need to succeed in life. Instead, public schools push woke ideologies like critical race theory and transgenderism. Parents must have a voice in school curriculums and policies. I support school choice so parents can get their children out of the failing schools and into schools that will provide the education their children need. There's a learn more button. Again, he goes into Brad's priorities: securing the border, supporting school choice, ending wasteful spending, protecting free speech, backing the blue, protecting the unborn, and defending gun rights. So under protecting free speech, it says freedom of speech and the free exercise of religious faith form the bedrock of American liberty. Today, both of those freedoms are under assault from the left. I will fight to end cancel culture, protect freedom of speech, and work to stop the radical left's targeting of Christian conservatives, backing the blue. The Democrats' defunding of the police and swapped-on crime policies have brought deadly violence, along with rampant addiction and death from illegal drugs to our communities. As a prosecutor, I saw firsthand the devastation caused by drugs and crime, and I worked alongside sheriffs and police departments to investigate and convict drug dealers. I proudly and unapologetically back the blue 100%. They put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe, and they deserve leaders who stand with him, not against them. Protecting the unborn. I oppose the Democrats' efforts to legalize abortion up to the moment of birth. The Dobbs decision properly overruled Roe v. Wade, returning authority over abortion to the states. I am pro-life. I support state laws protecting the unborn. Faith-based crisis, pregnancy centers, which help provide help to women and promote alternatives to abortion, are under attack and I will fight to protect them. Defending gun rights. I will work to protect our right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the Second Amendment. I was introduced to hunting by my grandfather, who taught me about the responsible gun ownership and safety. As a prosecutor, I repeatedly saw the need of every citizen to protect themselves and their families. We already have numerous laws regulating firearms, including a background check system and prohibitions on the possession of guns by felons and drug addicts. We need to enforce the gun laws that we have, not pass new ones that target the law-abiding rather than criminals. About Brad, father and husband, former prosecutor congressman. I'm proud to call the Raleigh area home. My roots run deep here. My parents grew up in Wilson and Knightdale. My grandfather fought bravely in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. After graduating from Wake Forest University School of Law, I built my life and family here. My wife, Joanna, is a proud North Carolina state graduate. We are blessed to raise our two daughters in the same community with the same people who shaped me. I first ran for office in 2024 because as a formal federal prosecutor, I've seen firsthand the devastating harm serious crime does to our communities. It's a privilege to fight for the hardworking people of North Carolina's 13th Congressional District. Together, we've made progress, but we must sustain that new approach in Washington to ask a return for the broken policies that devastated our economy and individuals. That's why I'm running for re-election, to help keep building a safer, stronger, more prosperous North Carolina for all of us. And there's a learn more button about Brad Knott, father, husband, former prosecutor, congressman. I first ran for office in 2024 because as a former federal prosecutor, I've seen firsthand the devastating effects serious crime does to our communities. It's a privilege to fight for the hardworking people of North Carolina's 13th Congressional District. I'm proud to call the Raleigh area home. My roots run deep here. My parents grew up in Wilson and Knightdale. My grandfather fought bravely in the Battle of the Bulge during the World War II. After graduating from Wake Forest University School of Law, I built my life and family here. My wife Joanna is a proud North Carolina state graduate. We are blessed to raise our two daughters in the same community with the same people who shaped me. During law school at Wake Forest University, I worked as a clerk for Supreme Court Justice Paul Newby. After graduating, I became a prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney's Office for Eastern North Carolina. For seven and a half years, I worked with numerous sheriffs and police departments to prosecute and convict drug cartels, gangs, human traffickers, and criminal illegal immigrants. As I traveled eastern North Carolina working on investigations and preparing for trials, I saw the devastating harm serious crime does to our communities. Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi's open border policies allowed a catastrophic flow of crime that still wreaks havoc across our state and country. The laws need to be stronger and more rigid to protect law-abiding Americans. I believe when an illegal immigrant commits a felony, they should be sent to prison for a minimum of five years and then deported. We have to increase penalties to deter the flood of illegal immigrants. I resigned as a federal prosecutor to first run for Congress in the 13th Congressional District of North Carolina in 2024. Together we've made progress, but we must sustain that new approach in Washington, or risk a return to the broken policies that devastated our economy and individuals. That's why I'm hoping to run for a re-election, to keep building a safer, stronger, and more prosperous North Carolina for all of us. He does have a store for merchandise. Welcome to the official Team Knott storefront. Brad Knott Conservatives for Congress. There are sweatshirts, t-shirts, and a baseball cap. There is also a button on Brad Knott's website if you would like to donate to his campaign. There are also buttons for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Looking up on a Google search, there are only a couple sites that seemed of interest beyond just general social media and election information. And one is the govtrack.us link that Sid Sharma had on his website. So there is the analysis ideology leadership chart. Again, this chart has a dot for every member of the House of Representatives positioned according to their ideology score left to right and their leadership score where leaders are towards the top. So Brad Knott pretty much is in the middle of the ideology score between the Democrats and the Republicans. He is the leftmost Republican on this chart. As far as the leadership score, he is towards the bottom for a leadership score. It lists his committee membership. So Knott sits on the following committees: the House Committee on Homeland Security, Border Security and Enforcement, Oversight, Investigations and Accountability Subcommittees, the House Committee on the Judiciary, Crime and Federal Government Surveillance, Immigration Integrity, Security and Enforcement Subcommittees, the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, Aviation, Highways and Transit, Water Resources and Environment Subcommittees. NOT sponsors bills primarily in the issue of immigration. 100% of his bills were for that. NOT recently introduced the following legislation. There are three listed: one for Aviation Supply Chain Safety and Security Digitization Act of 2025. One's for Trend Day Aragua Border Security Threat Assessment Act. One is for Punishing Illegal Immigrant Felons Act of 2025. It lists his voting record so that you can see the various bills and whether he voted yay or nay. And then there's a missed votes section. So from January 2025 to February 26, not missed four of 418 roll call votes, which is 1%. That is better than the median of 2.0% among the lifetime records of representatives currently serving. It says that they don't track why legislators miss votes, but it's often due to medical absences, major life events, and running for higher office. The other site I found was his ballotpedia. It says he's a member of the U.S. House representing North Carolina's 13th Congressional District. Brad Knott assumed office on January 3, 2025. His current term ends on January 3rd, 2027. Knott of the Republican Party is running for re-election to the U.S. House to represent North Carolina's 13th Congressional District. He is on the ballot in the Republican primary on March 3rd. For a biography, Brad Knott was born in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1986. He earned a bachelor's degree from Baylor University and a JD from Wake Forest University. Knott's career experience includes working as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney's Office for Eastern North Carolina. Again, it lists his committee assignments that I've already mentioned. For the 2024 election, he won the general election for the U.S. House, North Carolina District 13 with 58.6% of the vote. And originally for the 2024 race in the Republican primary for that race, Kelly Daughtry and Brad Knott were the top two vote getters. Kelly Daughtry had 27.4% of the vote, and he had 18.7% of the vote. It ended up triggering a primary runoff election by which Kelly Daughtry unofficially withdrew, allowing Brad Knott to win 90.8% of the vote for that election. He did not fill out ballotpedia survey questions, nor did he respond for our NC Deep Dive Voters Guide. Campaign finance, it says for the 2026 year, which again, data from this year may not be complete. He raised $805,702 in contributions, and he spent $387,209 in expenditures. For 2024, just as a reference, he received $2,473,896, and he spent $2,456,636. And that's really all I found on a Google search. So again, this race will be found on the Republican primary ballot. It is for the U.S. House of Representatives for District 13 between Sid Sharma and Brad Knott. You will be eligible to vote for one of these candidates. And that brings this episode of the NC Deep Dive to a close. Make sure you check out all the other relevant episodes for the 2026 primary election at www.ncdeepdive.com, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Audible, or wherever you currently listen to your podcast. I will be including helpful links for each candidate and voting in general on our website show notes, including our NC Deep Dives Voters Guide for the 2026 primary election. We were blessed to have many candidates that took the time to share their thoughts and speak to voters within Southern Wake County. The Voters Guide is arranged by party affiliation and organized in such a way to make it relatively easy to find the races or the candidates you might be interested in. All candidates' websites are linked if I was able to find one. I also consciously chose to arrange the voters' guide starting at the end of the ballot. So often we are aware of the larger races, yet don't hear about or take the time to learn about the smaller ones.
